Aims
The Journal of English Education and Technology (JEET) is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research at the intersection of English Language Teaching (ELT), Applied Linguistics, and digital learning technologies. The journal aims to advance scholarly understanding of how emerging technologies reshape language learning processes, instructional practices, and learner engagement in contemporary educational environments.
JEET particularly focuses on technology-enhanced language learning in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts, with a strong interest in educational innovation occurring in diverse and multilingual settings, including the Global South. By bringing together perspectives from applied linguistics, educational technology, and digital pedagogy, the journal seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on the future of language education in technologically mediated environments.
The journal welcomes contributions that provide substantial theoretical insights, methodological rigor, and meaningful implications for language education policy, pedagogy, and research.
Scope
JEET publishes empirical studies, theoretical papers, and systematic literature reviews addressing topics including, but not limited to, the following areas:
Artificial Intelligence in Language Education
Research examining the role of generative AI, large language models (LLMs), intelligent tutoring systems, automated feedback tools, and machine-assisted learning in language teaching and assessment.
Technology-Enhanced Language Learning
Studies investigating the integration of digital technologies, learning platforms, and multimedia resources that support English language acquisition in diverse educational contexts.
Digital Pedagogy in Language Education
Innovative pedagogical frameworks and instructional designs for online, hybrid, and blended language learning environments.
Immersive and Emerging Learning Technologies
Pedagogical applications of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), gamification, and other emerging digital technologies in language learning.
Digital Literacy and Teacher Professional Development
Research focusing on teacher digital competence, TPACK frameworks, digital inclusion, and professional learning for technology-integrated language teaching.
Human–Computer Interaction in Language Learning
Studies exploring learner engagement, emotional factors, technostress, digital wellbeing, and socio-affective dimensions of technology-mediated language learning.
Innovation in Language Learning Assessment
Technology-supported assessment methods, learning analytics, and data-driven approaches to evaluating language learning outcomes.
Types of Contributions
JEET publishes the following types of scholarly work:
- Empirical research articles
- Theoretical or conceptual papers
- Systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses
- Methodological innovations in language education research
All submissions must demonstrate clear scholarly contribution, strong methodological design, and relevance to the international community of language education researchers.
Inclusion & Quality Criteria
- Geographical Reach: While JEET welcomes global contributions, the journal particularly encourages comparative studies and research addressing international audiences beyond a single local institution.
- Novelty Requirement: Submitted papers must demonstrate a clear theoretical contribution or methodological innovation. JEET does not accept simple descriptive studies, small-scale classroom action research with limited generalizability, or perception studies on ubiquitous tools (e.g., generic use of social media) without deep pedagogical analysis.
